Minnie Fisher Cunningham (1882-1964), nicknamed “Minnie Fish” by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, was a Texas suffragette and political leader, who cofounded and served on several voting and political clubs. In 1901, she became one of the first three women to graduate from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston with a pharmacy degree, and in 1928 she ran as the first female candidate from Texas for the U.S. Senate.
